If you are working on your IT-related bachelor's degree, or planning to begin an IT-related master's program in fall 2022, here's an exciting opportunity to receive up to $75,000 in academic funding (over two years), internships and professional development as you prepare for a career in the U.S. Foreign Service. The U.S. Department of State's Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship culminates in an appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist, where you will use your tech skills to support U.S. diplomacy around the world. Applications for the 2022 cohort are now being accepted through January 31, 2022. The FAIT Fellowship program was launched to attract outstanding tech talent to the Foreign Service that reflects the diversity of the United States. Members of minority groups underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply. What You'll Receive as a FAIT Fellow As a FAIT Fellow, you can expect to forge new friendships, create a professional network, and build memories for a lifetime. Plus, here are the core benefits of the Fellowship: Academic funding: up to $75,000 over two years for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expense. This is for your junior and senior years of undergraduate study, OR a two-year master's degree program in an IT-related field. Stipends, housing and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Department of State; and an international internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad. Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program. An appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist after successful completion of the program and the State Department requirements. Are You Eligible to Apply? You are eligible to apply for the 2022 cohort if you: are a U.S. citizen; enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full-time IT-related degree program at a U.S.-based accredited institution; will be entering your junior year in fall 2022 or planning to enter a two-year master's program in fall 2022, on a timeline to graduate in spring 2024; hold a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale; will agree to a minimum five-year commitment with the Foreign Service upon successful completion of the program and the State Department's requirements. As a FAIT Fellow, you would be required to obtain and maintain medical and security clearances and suitability requirements. You would also need to maintain a minimum 3.2 GPA.  .
