Driving Course for Teens Feb 11 Community Service Hours

Harris Health System Ben Taub Hospital is hosting the Reality Education for Drivers—RED—Program for young drivers (14-24 years old) and their parents or guardians.* This free one day course focuses on driving SECURE (wear your seatbelt!), SILENT (free of distractions like cell phones) and SOBER (no alcohol or drug use while driving).

The course includes class discussions, multimedia presentations, and a “behind the scenes” tour of the hospital’s trauma center. There is also a special section for parents, guardians, and other adult influencers in which RED associates share research-based tools that can be used to help teens become safer drivers.

All students will receive a Certificate of Completion for community service hours** at the end of the course. Adults will receive a bag of “tools” for helping their young driver.

The class will be held in the 4th Floor Conference Room.

Please be aware lunch will not be provided. Participants may purchase lunch or snacks from the hospital's cafeteria or on-site McDonald's.
For more information, contact Taylor Bee at 254-202-6534, Taylor.Bee@bswhealth.org or Dan Worley at 254-202-6532, Dan.Worley@bswhealth.org.

*A parent or guardian must be present with participant(s) under 18 years old.
**The amount of community service hours granted for attending RED is at the sole discretion of the referral source. Some jurisdictions do not allow persons attending to count RED at community service.
