National Museum of African American Culture in DC

How to Obtain Passes for the Museum
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) is honored to have welcomed nearly 750,000 visitors since opening. To best serve Charter Members and the public, the NMAAHC has introduced new ways of obtaining passes for entry to the museum. Starting Monday, Dec. 19, the museum has made the following changes:
  • The special Charter Members-only webpage can be accessed at https://nmaahc.si.edu/cmpasses. Available dates will appear in bold. Dates not bolded indicate entry passes are no longer available.
NEW for the general public:
  • The museum has discontinued distributing same-day, in-person passes at 9:15 a.m. daily. However, available ONLINE will be same-day, timed passes through the museum’s website, nmaahc.si.edu/sameday, available starting at 6:30 a.m. daily.
  • NEW: A limited number of walk-up passes will be available starting at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, no walk up passes will be available on Saturdays or Sundays due to high visitation.
  • Non-commercial group visits of 10 or more, including student groups, will now be available for scheduling up to one year in advance by visiting nmaahc.si.edu/groups
NEW schedule for May 2017 passes:
  • Today, advance timed passes for May 2017 are available starting at 9 a.m. by visiting nmaahc.si.edu or by calling 866-297-4020. Up to six (6) advanced timed passes may be obtained when available.
Passes are required for entrance into the museum and will continue indefinitely. Passes may be printed or displayed on a smartphone. There is no limit on the amount of time visitors may spend inside the museum.
