UYA JR. RBI SPRING BASEBALL/SOFTBALL LEAGUE (AGES 7-14)
The “Astros
Junior RBI” program is set to begin its third season March 20, 2017. The
program is a baseball/softball league at the Houston Astros Urban Youth Academy
(UYA) located at Sylvester Turner Park.
The league will be directed by the Houston Astros UYA. We
are moving to a new system to sign up for leagues. All parents must
create a Parent Account to sign their child/children up for the Jr. RBI
League.

Players that are 7 years of age by April 30, 2017 or that turn 14
years of age prior to December 31, 2017 are eligible to participate.
All games played weeknights at 7:00 p.m.

Spring UYA Evening open instruction is now open for RSVP for Boys
& Girls Ages (7-18)
Instruction for the next two (2) weeks will be from: Monday,
February 6 – Thursday, February 16, 2017.
THERE WILL BE NO INSTRUCTION ON FRIDAY,
FEBRUARY 17, 2017.

* Remember you must RSVP for instruction in advance. In the event of a cancellation to your reservation date, you may not be added to the list the next day if you have not made a reservation for that following day without contacting the UYA.
* Everyone who sends RSVP will be allowed to participate. There will be no confirmation e-mail sent. There will be no walk-ups allowed without prior contact of UYA staff. Continuous "NO SHOWS" will be removed from the RSVP email distribution. Your child's name MUST be on the sign-in sheet to participate, NO EXCEPTIONS.
* In the event of potentially inclement weather, please be sure to check your e-mail prior to departing to UYA.
* UYA Dress Code consists of baseball pants (grey preferred), baseball belt, baseball socks, cleats, glove and sneaker shoes (for indoor hitting). We will provide your child with an orange Urban Youth Academy t-shirt which is to be worn as your players uniform EVERYDAY! Please adhere to the dress code as close as possible. Please contact the UYA staff with concerns regarding equipment or uniform.
VOLUNTEER EVENT – HOUSTON FOOD BANK
The Houston Astros Urban Youth Academy would like to invite our
UYA members and their families to give back to those less fortunate. Saturday,
February 11, 2017, The Houston Astros Foundation is scheduled to volunteer at
the Houston Food Bank located at 535 Portwall St. Houston, 77029.
Volunteer hours are from 1PM-4PM. Feel free to invite family or friends
to volunteer, too! Please note that volunteers need to arrive by 12:45
pm(Houston Food Bank staff will begin giving instructions). All
volunteers that sign up for and participate in a shift will receive an Astros
Foundation shirt and two (2) tickets to a selected 2017 Astros home game.

This is a great opportunity for youth as well as parents associated with our programs to give back to the community. Activities may consist of food packaging, food inspecting and building food boxes for families. Volunteers must be six (6) years of age or older! Please remember to wear closed toe shoes as we will be in a warehouse environment. We look forward to having you come out and volunteer! All volunteers that sign up for and participate in a shift will receive an Astros Foundation shirt and two (2) tickets to a selected 2017 Astros home game.
Youth please wear Orange UYA T-shirt (if you have one).
Parents who are volunteering will be given a T-shirt at the event.
The Astros Foundation invites you to join us throughout 2017 at
the Houston Food Bank to fight hunger in our community. We have set up the
following volunteer days at the Houston Food Bank’s Portwall Warehouse. To

How to register
Adults (18 and older)
- Click on group’s unique registration link
- You will be directed to a login screen. You can either
login (past HFB volunteer) or create a new profile (new volunteer)
- After you login or create your account, the webpage
will direct you to a page that says "Opportunity Information."
On that page, you will see the shift's information such as address,
parking, etc. Please scroll down to the bottom of the webpage and click on
"Register" to complete your registration
- After registering online, you will receive a
confirmation email with a QR code at the very bottom of the email, right
above the “Contacts ID” section. Please make sure you download pictures to
see your QR code.
- Print out a hard copy of your confirmation email or
access it through your phone so you can scan yourself in the day of for
check in.
- If you are unable to register online or forget your QR
code, you can sign the waiver manually onsite the day of.
Minors (Ages 6-17)
All minors will need to submit their waiver form with a
parent/guardian signature on the day of volunteering.
