CBCF Scholarships & Internships

For more than four decades, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) has awarded more than 300 scholarships each year to deserving Black students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degrees in various disciplines. Application deadlines vary for each scholarship opportunity.

In addition, our Summer 2023 Congressional and Pathways to the C-Suite Internship program application deadline is March 31, 2023. Our internship programs prepare college students and young professionals to become the next generation of leaders, skilled policy analysts, and informed advocates on Capitol Hill and beyond.

Carissa Joy Smith

Fall 2016 C-Suite Intern

Vice President of Government Relations, FOX Corporation

I continually integrate the CBCF’s mission in my work of advancing the global Black community. As a former presidential appointee, campaign strategist, congressional staffer, and now C-Suite executive, I am continuing to lead public-private sector partnerships across multiple industries and coalitions for effective resolutions, diverse personnel placements and policy making.

LaVontae Brooks

Spring 2016 C-Suite Intern

Deputy Chief of Staff, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04)

Having the opportunity to participate in the CBCF internship program was life changing. Being one of the first C-Suite interns in 2016 with a public relations firm allowed me to learn multiple ways to be an effective leader and deliver public policy wins. It is evident that I would not be in the position I am in now without the support of the CBCF and my current boss, Congressman Steven Horsford.
