How to Help with Flooding in Houston

For monetary and goods donations, you may go through the Greater Houston Storm Recovery Network.

http://www.houstonfloodrecovery.org/#!get_involved/c8k2.  The Point of Contact for In-Kind Donations is Linda Walker.

Local non-profits and organizations interested in joining the recovery effort  should call the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department at 832-394-6282 for more information.

There is an informational planning meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 20th at 3 p.m. at Harvest Time Church at 17770 Imperial Valley Dr. in the Greenspoint area.  Another meeting will be held in the Meyerland/Braeswood area.  That location will be announced shortly.

The American Red Cross is currently operating 6 shelters in the local area:

  • M.O. Campbell Center
  • Jersey Village Baptist Church
  • Willow Meadows Baptist Church
  • Chinese Community Center
  • Acres Homes Multi-Service Center
  • St. John’s Methodist Church

This website provides up to date information on open shelters, as new ones are added: http://www.redcross.org/get-help/disaster-relief-and-recovery/find-an-open-shelter

The Mayor’s office is providing up to date reports throughout the day and more information is forthcoming. If there are any specific requests, please let me know and I’ll follow-up accordingly.

Best,

Jessica
