"Grow" Saturday with GEEC View this email in your browser The Earth Day "Grow" Challenge   This "Grow" Challenge is a 30-day plus lesson, experiment and competition regarding the traditional "soil" agriculture process and the non-traditional water & fish agriculture process called "aquaponics".  Pick a growing process and let's see whether the winner will come from the Soil or Aquaponics application.  In this April 24th - May 29th challenge,  the students will have to take care of and monitor their plant to maximize its growth.  They will also be responsible for providing a 1-page narrative of what they experience on a weekly basis.  Please feel free to take pictures as a part of your documentation of your plant's growth. Your growing process must start from a seed. (Please take a picture of this step).  Whenever you 1st see any sign of growth, please take a picture and document which day in the challenge it is. (Example: Day 4, 8, 10, 12, etc.)    Judging and Prizes   The judging will be based upon 3 things in your growing process: Your 1-page narrative or essay explaining your process The pictures you take during the process to show your progress The size / healthiness of your plant on the morning of Saturday, May 29th   1st Place Winner $150 2nd Place Winner $100 3rd Place Winner $50 A special thanks to our sponsor: Puranik Foundation!!! http://www.puranikfoundation.org/   Growing Websites   The following websites are being provided to guide the students and provide a source of information for their learning journey. (Add abour 3-4 Goldfish and watch) ----------------------------- For the soil process, buy a small container, some soil mix and your seed.
