Become an Election Worker or Poll Watcher (Democratic or Republican Party is hiring)

This upcoming general election is the most important election of our lifetime. And I have an opportunity for you to help protect the integrity of the democratic process.

Become an election worker.

The 2020 general election is important for many reasons, one of them being because the GOP has made it clear that they will use any means necessary, including voter suppression, to win. Voter protection is essential.

Help democracy and make some extra money at the same time!

Election Clerks and Election Law Clerks (a position for law students or attorneys) help ensure that elections run smoothly. Clerks can greet voters, manage lines, check IDs and registration status, or ensure that no one is overstepping the bounds of the law.  These are paid $17 an hour and are needed for Election Day (November 3) or any day during Early Voting (October 13 to 30). Apply to become an Election Clerk.

Presiding Judges and Alternate Judges open and close polling locations, recruit staff, oversee polling location operations, and pick up and drop off voting equipment and supplies. Both positions are paid: Alternate Judges are paid $17 an hour and Presiding Judges are paid $20 an hour. Judges are needed for Election Day (November 3). Apply to become an Election Judge.

If being an Election Clerk or Judge sounds like too much responsibility, Harris County also needs Poll Watchers.

Poll Watchers serve a two-hour volunteer shift at a designated polling site to ensure that election activities are running with integrity and report any issues to the team of Voter Protection attorneys. Poll Watchers are needed on Election Day (November 3) or any day of Early Voting (October 13 to 30). Apply to become a Poll Watcher.

If you’re interested in applying for any of these positions, visit our webpage today for more details.

Thanks for your help in protecting our democracy.

Harris County Democratic Party Chair
