Invitation: VIRTUAL STEM EXPOSED

On behalf of the Western Areas Links, Incorporated and the Lenovo Foundation, we are delighted to extend an invitation to middle school students (ages 11 to 14) to attend our first of three virtual STEM Exposed 2020 event(s) on Saturday, October 17, 2020, 1 pm CST/11 am PST/8 am HI, ending at 3:30 pm CST/1:30 pm PST/10:30 am HI.

The goal of STEM Exposed is to bring awareness and visibility to diverse STEM role models and career opportunities.

To register the students click here. Student registration ends Saturday, October 10, 2020, once registered students will be invited to participate in future STEM Exposed 2020 events.

This event will include interactive STEM activities for students and provide exposure to STEM educators and professionals in a fun learning experience. Students will be challenged to complete science experiments during the virtual event which will offer an opportunity to learn: “How STEM is used in their everyday life” and why a STEM career choice may be important to them.

The Lenovo Video Challenge for STEM exposed will be very exciting and each student will be prompted to participate upon registration. The video challenge will ask students to use TiKTok or any other video recording program to show “How do you use STEM in your everyday life?” by using song, dance or rhyme in a creative format. There will be three video winners, but all students will be eligible for Lenovo prizes and Amazon cards. Each registered student will receive a STEM kit, a certificate of attendance and a Stem Exposed t-shirt (in adult sizing).

If you have questions about the event, please email: stemwesternarea@gmail.com . We appreciate your support and willingness to participate in this program to ensure that students get exposed to growing careers and opportunities in STEM.

Sincerely,
