The College of Arts & Sciences is hosting a series of events this year honoring our beloved alumna Toni Morrison M.A. '55, whose words remain as insightful and illuminating today as they were 50 years ago.
On the 50th anniversary of the publication of her first novel, "The Bluest Eye," we invite you to join us for our kickoff events:
The Oct. 8 reading will feature authors Ta-Nehisi Coates, Tayari Jones and Edwidge Danticat; U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo; scholars from around the country and the globe; and members of the Cornell and Ithaca communities. The reading begins at 11 a.m. and you're invited to listen in all day or just tune in at various times during the day!

The Oct. 15 Toni Morrison Teach-In will feature six Cornell faculty discussing Morrison’s work and her impact. You can watch short faculty videos about her work now on our Arts Unplugged website, then join in for live discussion and Q&A during the event, which runs from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Registration information will be available soon on the Arts Unplugged website.
Powered by eCornell, both events will also be streamed live on Facebook and are free and open to the public. We hope you can join us. You can also visit this site to learn more about all of the events the College is planning this year to celebrate Morrison.
